Sahitya Akademi’s Literary Programmes in Port Blair PDF Print E-mail

Port Blair, Jan 28: A 15-member team of Sahitya Akademi, The Academy of Letters, New Delhi comprising of poets, authors, literary critics and officials, shall be on a visit of the Islands from January 29 to 31, 2010. During its stay the team will conduct two literary programmes; a Short Story Reading Session and a Poets’ Meet at 10.30 AM and 5.00 PM respectively at Andaman Club apart from holding the annual Urdu Advisory Committee meeting on the 29th.
 
The poets likely to recite their poems on the 30th evening at 5.00PM are: Prof AMK Shaharyar, Ambar Behraichi, Chander Bhan Khayal, Raz Andamani, Parween Kumar Ashk, Roshan Ara Dilbar, IA Khan and Mohammed Essa. Dr AMK Shaharyar shall preside over the session.  
 
The expected participants at the Short Story Reading Session are: Naeem Kausar, Fe Seen Ejaz, Sadiqa Nawab Sahar and Umme Salma. The session will be presided over by Prof Gopi Chand Narang, immediate past president of Sahitya Akaedmi.  
 
Apart from the poets and authors, Prof. Quddus Javed, Prof. Sulaiman Ather Javed, Dr. Shahzad Anjum, Dr. Waseem Begum and Prof. S. Imtiyaz Hasnain; renowned literary critics, historians and experts in linguistics are also likely to grace the programmes on both days.
