Port Blair, Feb 1: It has been observed that the footpaths in the Aberdeen Bazaar are generally found encroached due to display of movable articles by the shopkeepers and other vendors. This causes hardship to those passing through the footpaths. According to Andaman and Nicobar Islands (Municipal) Regulation, 1994, immovable encroachment on the streets/footpaths is liable for summarily removal and the offenders are also liable for punishment, a public notice issued by the Secretary, PBMC said.
Therefore, all shopkeepers and other vendors are advised to desist from displaying their articles on the footpaths in the Aberdeen Bazaar failing which they shall be liable to be removed by the PBMC and action will be initiated in terms of the regulation.
