Member of Parliament Distributes autorickshaw keys to SHGs

Diglipur, Feb 2: The women driven autorickshaws in Diglipur may soon become a reality. The Member of Parliament, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray distributed the keys of auto rickshaw to a women Self-Help Group ‘Pratibha’ at a function held at R K Gram Panchayat, here. The project of providing autorickshaw has been launched by Matha Amritanandamai Math under its Amritashree Project. 
 
Addressing the gathering, the MP urged the women-folks to become self reliant by embracing self-employment. Lauding the efforts of Matha Amritanandamai Math for launching the noble initiative, the MP said, this will help the rural women in uplifting their standard of living. He said this is for the first time that women are going to be associated with this nature of work and expressed the hope this will help in drawing more women to take up self-employment ventures.
 
The Project Director of Amritashree, Shri Rajiv Nambiar, speaking on the occasion said, initially eight women have been choosen under the project and they will be trained for driving the vehicle. Apart from the functionaries of Matha Amritanandamai Math the function was attended by the Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad, North & Middle Andaman, Shri Naresh Haldar and other PRI members.
