Port Blair, Feb 5: A press conference was called today at 11.20 Hrs by the Zilla Parishad, South Andaman in which Ms. Mariyam Bibi, the Adhyaksha alleged that the Member of Parliament, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray had insulted her in the house by calling her a Pakistani. 
 
The Adhyasha said, the incident took place during a meeting of the Zilla Parishad which was aimed at constituting new committees for Finance, Public Health, Works and Development etc. She further said that the house had unanimously agreed to the names of the Zilla Parishad Members as Chairman and members of the committee. But the Member of Parliament Shri Bishnu Pada Ray raise objections over the method of selection and walked out of the meeting after pushing his chair towards her.  
 
Mariyam further alleged that the MP calling her a Pakistani said, “Yeh sab samvidhan ka khilaph hai, Mariyam tumhara Rule India may nahee chalega, Ye sab Pakistan may chalega, tum apna Pakistan kao, aur vahan dikhao”. 
 
The Adhyaksha explaining her position said, “I was insulted just because I belong to a Minority and I am a lady”.
According to the minutes of the meeting prepared by the CEO, ZP, South Andaman, all the members unanimously condemned the unparliamentory utterance of Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, and call upon Shri Ray to withdraw his utterances and apologize to the members. 
 
The members also resolved that the Member of Parliament shall not be invited for any Zilla Parishad meeting until and unless he withdraws his words and apologises. 
 
It was also resolved that the matter would be communicated to the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Hon’ble Minister of Panchayati Raj, Hon’ble Speaker of Lok Sabha and Hon’ble Lt. Governor of A&N Islands. And if the Member of Parliament does not withdraw his words and apologises by Friday evening, the Adhyaksha is authorized to lodge an FIR and also to take legal proceedings against him.
