2nd Round of PPI Successfully Held In the Islands, 32488 Children Covered on the First Day |

Port Blair, Feb 8: The Health Services has organized 2nd Round of Pulse Polio Immunization Programme in the entire territory today on 07th February 201. The inaugural function of Pulse Polio Programme was conducted at the G.B. Pant Hospital, .Port Blair by Shri Vivek Rai, Chief Secretary in the morning at 08.30 am, in presence of Mrs. Achala Sing, Special Secretary (Health).
Total 682 fixed and 58 Mobile booths were functioned. Arrangements were made to cover the children at Bus Terminals, Harbors and in religious places, besides above; arrangements were also made to cover the children traveling b y Inter Island Vessels as well as at Vir Savarkar International Air Port, Port Blair. As per the report received in A&N Islands 32488 children in the age group of 0-5 years were administered Polio vaccine on 1st day of 2nd Round, which includes Port Blair area 7032 Children and 892 children in Defense area. Total 97.70% has been covered on 1st day of 2nd Round, which will follow by two days house to hose visit on 8th and 9th February 2010. NGOs, Private practitioners and Voluntary persons also actively participated in making the Pulse Polio Immunization a grand success.
