DG Indian Coast Guard To Assess Operational Preparedness And Coastal Security Measures |

.jpg) Vice Admiral Anil Chopra, AVSM Port Blair, Feb 23: Vice Admiral Anil Chopra, AVSM, the Director General of the Indian Coast Guard will be visiting A&N islands from 24 Feb to 27 Feb. The Director General will be assessing the operational preparedness of the Coastal Guard assets in the region and would also take stock of the various measures undertaken to strengthen our coastal security. Admiral Chopra will also be visiting The Coast Guard district Headquarters no-9 at Diglipur, and newly commissioned Coast Guard station at Hut Bay to assess the on ground situation in these far flung but strategically important locations. His visit to these out lying units is expected to further bolster the pace of infrastructure development necessitated after the events of 26/11.
During his stay, the Director General Coast Guard will also call on the honorable Lt Governor and also the Commander –in- Chief, Andaman and Nicobar Command to discuss various issues of mutual interests and those pertaining to the overall security of the islands and the Nation. Both ongoing and proposed projects pertaining to Coast Guard expansion and other coastal security measures are also expected to come up for discussion. The Director Generals visit to these islands is expected to provide further impetus to the various measures underway and envisaged in the future towards ensuring our Coastal Security.
Mrs. Ragini Chopra, President Tatrakshika, will also be accompanying the Admiral during his visit. The first lady of the Coast Guard will be taking stock of the welfare measures and amenities for the Coast Guard families, both at Port Blair and various outlying units. |
