Special Meeting of UNNATI Discusses Implementation of Various RD Schemes PDF Print E-mail

Port Blair, March 3: A special meeting of UNNATI was convened on 03.03.2010 at 2.30 p.m in UNNATI office, Haddo to discuss vermin compost scheme of the Agriculture Department, organization of workshop on Rural Development schemes and handicapped welfare meetings at Namunaghar, tobacco control and to assist local youths to form new NGOs for their participation in social works and used of Right to Information on long pending public related matters like Panighat water tank construction.
 
In the meeting S/S Jai Chand, K. Moosa and Mohammed Ali, Executive Members welcomed the vermin-compost scheme of the Administration. The scheme was explained by President, UNNATI in details. It was unanimously decided that UNNATI and its promoted NGOs, Cooperative Societies, Self Help Groups would actively involve in the implementation of vermicompost scheme in A&N Islands considering the its benefits including maintenance of soil health and world wise demand of organic products etc.
 
UNNATI members also decided to undertake implementation of tobacco control law in their respective jurisdiction.
 
For active implementation of Rural Development Programme, UNNATI decided to organize a workshop for implementation of Rural Development schemes through NGO in which resource person would be arranged by UNNATI from mainland. All local NGOs would be invited to participate in the workshop.
