Rangat, March 30: A Nature Awareness Camp is being organized in connection with the World Forestry Day, 2012 for the PRI members of the Middle Andaman at Dhaninallah Eco-Tourism Site (Betapur). Shri P. Prasad, Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad, N&M Andaman District, was the chief guest during the inaugural session of the Nature Awareness Camp on 29.03.2012.

In his inaugural address, Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad emphasized the role of PRI members in protection of environment, forests & wildlife.  He, further, appealed to all the PRI members to cooperate with the Forest officials in protection of this open treasure of forest & wildlife. He was of the opinion that a balance should be maintained so that development and conservation are not compromised.

The chief guest also appreciated the efforts of the Department of Environment & Forests in promotion of eco-tourism in these Islands. Eco-tourism will not only lead to the development of the place but also will act as a source of employment for many unemployed youths. He expressed his happiness that the Forest Department has organized an awareness programme for PRI members so that they can play a crucial role in educating & creating awareness among the general public.

The Nature Awareness Camp is scheduled for three days from 29.03.2012 to 31.03.2012 in which all the PRI members of Middle Andaman from Kadamtala to Basantipur are expected to participate. The general topics on which discussion will be held are environment, forest, wildlife, mangroves and eco-tourism.
