Advantages of mechanized farming highlighted

Mayabunder, Sept 2: A five-day training programme on ‘mechanized paddy transplanter’ was organized by the Agriculture Department, Mayabunder under ATAMA scheme at Rampur village recently. The Senior Veterinary Officer, Mayabunder, Dr. NP Singh was the chief guest of the inaugural function. He urged the farmers to increase the production of food grains and also to adopt mechanized farming for contributing to the agricultural growth rate of country. 
 
The Joint Director of Agriculture, N&M Andaman, Shri Anjan Kumar Das informed of the advantages of mechanized farming over traditional methods besides the schemes implemented and subsidies provided by Agriculture Department. Earlier, the Asstt. Director (Agri), Shri RY Singh welcomed the gathering. The Agriculture Asstt., Shri MK Sreedas and Shri Bikash Gain, a farmer of Basantipur village were the resource persons. Altogether, 35 farmers of Rampur village participated in this training programme.


Hindi Fortnight by BSNL

Port Blair, Sept 2: The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. here is celebrating Hindi Fortnight from Sept 1 to 15. The Chief General Manager, BSNL, Shri VK Sanjivi inaugurated the programme in the conference hall of Telephone Bhawan today. While speaking on the occasion, he appealed to the officers and staff of BSNL to participate in the programmes to be organized during this fortnight. 
 
The special guest, Shri SP Rai, Retd. Vice Principal spoke about the importance of Hindi and stated that Hindi is gaining importance worldwide. He along with Shri Mahendra Pratap Mishra also presented songs and poems befitting the occasion.
Earlier, the DGM (Admn), Shri VD Godghate welcomed the gathering. The DGM (CFA), Shri M Murlikrishna and DGM (Fin), Shri S Jayaveeran expressed their views on the celebration of Hindi Fortnight and urged the officers and staff to participate in the celebration whole heartedly. During the fortnight various competitions for the staff and children will be held.
